Bubba’s new best friend

Bubba has a new best friend! He is a bit small but unlike the rest of Bubba’s friends he doesn’t have to yell at the top of his lungs to get a word in conversations!

Here is the picture I took of him and Bubba together.

His name is Hand or Blabber Mouth depending on when you ask Bubba. And here is Bubba’s new friend, Hand, all close up.

Cutie that he is…When I took the picture Bubba said, “Did he blink?” With all seriousness. I couldn’t help but laugh! He did this all by himself without any help from me…smart little monster.

And we got prezzies from Daddy today  too!!!  Books for me and the monsters and a great new chachki to show off my Hokie Spirit!

Thanks Daddy…We love you!

It’s all about the food these days…

I got tagged for the

by transplanting me. This one was started over at Smokey Mountain Breakdown. I happen to enjoy a good meme because I try to post every day and this gives me a break on thinking about what I am going to write!

1. What food do you consider the best “date” food? In other words, what meal or food item do you think is sexiest to eat in the company of someone you would like to look sexy around?

Steak—because…well…just because I really just enjoy a good steak…and strawberries…

2. What well-known person would you like to share a meal with?

This kind of question is always difficult for me because I want you to think I am a smart person. But I also want you to like me and think I am a fun person, not stuffy. And I also want you to see that I am a spiritual person. And I have a miserable time making up my mind…yaaaharrgghhhh! So I am going to say JK Rowling. Because I love her writing and I know she has survived raising children and…

3. What does your perfect breakfast-in-bed look like? (Food AND the details, please. Candles? Music? Flowers? Hot tub? Dancing girls?

Lots of chewy thick cut bacon, fried eggs and grits. Coffee and cream. Quiet…just quiet…

4. What do you consider the best application of whipped cream to be?

Straight out of the container

5. Oh-God-No, Biff, the yacht is sinking! You are sent to the galley to retrieve the food. What luxury food items do you snatch first? The champagne? The caviar? Smoked Salmon? Truffles? Chocolate? Or something else?

SAVE THE CHOCOLATE!!!! Grab the wine and some chips and dip! I’m not big on the luxury food!

The Rules…
“Answer each of the five questions. Tag five bloggers you would like to pass the meme to. Have them link back to you and to this post as the source meme. You and they can take the graphic from here if they like.”

So, now, who do I tag…

Task force dawg – I tag you because I love you…and I know you enjoy a good feed!

Of course I must tag notgoth because of her excellent post on foods she misses from home!

I think I’ll tag Oz just because I am interested in seeing what his answers might be!

Yoga Gumbo…I mean com’on look at the name of her blog!

And Shannon over at Rocky Mountain Fighting Tigers because I know the girl can cook and because she seems to have dropped off the face of the earth!

Silent Sunday

Pretty sparklies that my friend Nancy made. She even hand beaded the necklace part!

3 weeks ago my garage door made an awful sound…like the scream of a wild animal being tortured…poor Lullibell just happened to be standing in the garage at the moment…she totally freaked out (and this is not the monster that is afraid of loud noises but this was awful).

So I went down to ask my neighbor if he had time to look at it.  He wasn’t home and then I wasn’t home and then he wasn’t home and then….well you get the picture.

Anyway a few days later he was able to come down and look at it…then needed to do a little research…then ordered the part…then found out that was the wrong part…then found the right part…which is not sold retail anywhere but he found one through “connections”!

So today he came down and installed the new part and now I have a fully functioning garage door opener…I am so happy.

How was YOUR weekend?

Yesterday and Saturday we had showings of our house so we had to take the dogs and get lost. On Saturday the weather was very windy and I had a few indoor projects to complete for a friend who was paying me to get them done by today…Mission accomplished.

Sunday was a free day for us. We went to church, had a hue lunch at a steak place and after came home to square away the last few details of the house before the showing.

Bubba has been asking to go on a hike for a few days. I don’t mind hiking in the summer when the weather has been dry and the trails are all pretty safe but this time of year is not my favorite. So I thought, “Hey let’s go to Seven Falls. It should be pretty safe up there. And we haven’t gone up there yet, need to go before we leave…”

We headed over there at about 1:00. When we got there the wind had picked up a bit and it was COLD. There was also some monster attitude in the form of Bubba saying,”This one guy was hiking one time and fell and broke his glasses so you might not wanna wear yours, Lullibell.” But we forged ahead anyway.

The next time I have a brilliant idea would one of you kind people please stop me!

There are 2 places from which to view the falls…one called the Eagle’s Nest and then the main falls viewing platform. There are 189 steps to the Eagle’s Nest. Now, while that didn’t sound too bad while I was standing on the bottom, when I got to the sign that said “Halfway there! Don’t give up now!” I thought my chest was going to explode. We made it to the top with only one stop for pictures and gasping for air. It was quite beautiful to look at. Then Lullibell says, “I want to go over there!!!”

That’s when I realized there was another set of stairs to go to the main viewing platform-only another 224 steps. So we started the trek up that trail of torture. There were two women on their way down the stairs that told me that knees turn into jello on the way down and that there were plenty of parents up there-the monsters would be fine! I will say that the second climb was not too bad. I stopped several times to try and fill my lungs take pictures of each part of the falls.

The worst part of the climb really was coming back down! I thought my knees were going rip from the skin, tendons, ligaments, whatever. I walked down behind two very thin young women and thought that while they wouldn’t be much protection they would slow my fall somewhat if my knees did give out!

When we reached the bottom again I collapsed in a heap on a bench, pretended to be terribly interested in pondered the lack of rainbow trout in the pool at the base of the falls.

All said we had a lovely time at the falls and I got some amazing pictures to show my family and all my blog buddies in spite of the wigglywobbliness that my knees became!

Lazy (?!?!?) Saturday

Well I’m not really having a lazy Saturday.  I do have a showing at noon and have not done a great job at housekeeping this week so I have a couple more hours to finish what I have slowly been doing since 8:00 this morning…wiping walls, covering dings in the wood work, cleaning potties, dusting, wiping cabinets and counters….I could make this list very long. But the good news is that I am almost done.  I only have the floors left to do so it shouldn’t take me too much longer.

Then I have to load up the monsters-both two legged and four, and vacate the premises.  I am going to finish a project I started earlier this week…finish cleaning the carpet in my friend’s condo.  I also told her I would replace the decorative tacks on her couch this weekend so I am going to do that, too.

After that we will go to the video store and rent some movies…

So I thought I would leave something neat for you guys to do while I am gone.  My auntie that you all know as shorty sent me this link earlier this week.  I hope you enjoy it.

Spring is around the corner

Thirty Voices presents!!!

I got my present from my swap partner today! My swap partner is Sage from Des Moines! Along with a super wonderful note about her, her mom and places that are almost familiar she sent these wonderful items.

swap-ift-003_opt.jpg A lovely jar of preserves and a bag of the coolest marshmallows from the local organic grocery. And this beautiful basket hat her mother made on a visit to Iowa. Coincidentally while Sage’s mom was born and raised in Iowa she is now living in Virginia-MY home state!

Sage mentions that she and her mother both love baskets. They are a passion of mine as well. When I lived in North Dakota I learned to make baskets from a friend!
