A Haircut…and grounded AGAIN!

I took Bubba to get a haircut today.  This is one of those things I hate about moving-finding someone to cut that boys hair…he has more crowns and cowlicks than a Dairy Queen!  We went to one place and read the signs on the door before we went in…turns out it was a place where they do “ethnic hair”…I didn’t figure he needed a new weave or braids so we looked for another place.

When we pulled up in front Bubba saw the barber pole and decided this was the place for him.  I thought we were in the right place too.  The owner was Korean with very little English!  I had to show him a picture of the haircut we wanted which scared the bajeezus out of me!  But He gave Bubba a great haircut and Bubba declared him a “really nice guy” on the way out the door.

After that we came home and worked around the house some and the kids got in the pool…where they fought the whole time.  Then the monsters went for a bike ride…and fought the whole time.  Later I asked them to gather all of the trash up from the small room cans….and they fought the whole time!  With the use of the term of endearment “shut up”   they earned some time at their newest and seemingly fairly effective punishment-sitting at the kitchen table with the book they are reading at the moment and a notebook and pencil.  While this doesn’t really sound like much of a punishment it works pretty well because of the location…they can’t curl up and read/write and they can’t watch tv, listen to music, or play a video game at their leisure…which thoroughly ticks them off.  So far so good!

Fall…does it really rhyme with football?

Boy Feet

Bubba starts soccer tomorrow.  His last day of basketball and first day of soccer overlap so he should be exhausted tomorrow…Hallelujah!

He is terribly excited about this and has reminded me regularly that he needs cleats and shin guards and a ball for the start of this new venture.

So this morning I set out to buy him some new cleats and shin guards and reminded him that he already has a perfectly serviceable ball.  Little did I know the fun ahead!

I bought him the new cleats in a size larger(3) than his school shoes that were purchased at the beginning of school…in August.  Brought them home and set about trying to jam his freakishly large six year old foot into them…Guess what?  You got it…they DIDN’T FIT!!!

This normally would not have been a problem but the store that I bought them at…which has fantastic prices on such items…is no where near our house.  As a matter of fact there really isn’t a great place to buy any sporting good items all that close by.

So we made the trek back to the store to exchange the shoes.

We didn’t even bother trying on a 3.5 because the 3 was so tiny.  He tried on a 4…nope…How about a 4.5?…nope…My six year old wears a size 5…A SIZE FIVE

I remember my mom thinking that my brother was telling her shoes fit that didn’t because he wanted that particular style…only to have them not fit like a week later…I swear I believe him now!

The child’s foot has already almost outgrown the lovely dress shoes that he wore in my cousin’s wedding in December!

If he is growing this fast now how am I going to keep him clothed and shod when he becomes a teenager?!?!?!

Is that a frog in your car?

Yesterday, when I got to school to pick up the monsters, Bubba was nearly bursting with excitement.  He sort of half ran/speed-walked to the car.

“Momma I caught a frog…well no…it kinda caught me…see, here…well it was on my arm…it scared me half to death at first but it was really cool…it had red spots on it…”

This morning when I was dropping the monsters off at school the safety patrol kid that opened the door nearly freaked out…

“Ummm…there is a frog in your car…”

“Really, a frog, wonder how that got in here…”

I’ll update you when I find out for sure that Bubba ot in my van with a frog stuck to his arm.

Update: “Actually, mom, it was stuck to my leg right here!”   Silly momma….and his teacher thought it was a riot!

Somebody help me up!

This is Bubba’s mean face.

Down here is Lullibell’s mean face!

Final score of the game was 5-2.  Lullibell thought she should take the responsibility for the loss but we found a way to blame it all on boys so life was good
