Immigration Day

Today at Lullibell’s school the second grade is celebrating Immigration Day. You all may remember that for the last two such events I broke out my mad sewing skills and made her a costume that was easy to recycle into the next event. Not so much this time…quite frankly it just slipped up on me. So yesterday when I told her that I hadn’t fixed a costume for her she had a break down. That’s when my costume brain actually started working.

Lullibell went to school wearing a long denim skirt (’cause they had those at the turn of the century, right?) and her old peter pan collar uniform blouse with a large pin at the neck. She was convince and as I haven’t had anyone call me and tell me she is not appropriately dressed then I guess her teacher was convinced too.

I snapped some quick pictures before we left for school. There are a couple with her and her new Kit doll that she got for her birthday last week.

That doll has been a huge hit. Her name is Margaret Kitridge, Kit for short. She is the American Girl doll whose story is from the Great Depression. Lullibell even got her hair cut like the doll last week!

  1. I finally got to see that beautiful doll. No wonder Lullibell is so thrilled with her. I just can’t get use to seeing her with glasses. Hopefully, she likes them. Hope you are having a better day. Love ya!

Yes—she loves that doll! The glasses on the other hand….Do you think it is passive aggressive that she “forgets” them sometimes?

  2. I love my American girls (LB and WM)…so beautiful…Bubba too!—I love you guys! Come on 20 May!

    Love you too

  3. I think I remember Beth “forgetting” her glasses when she first got them too… :)

If I forgot my glasses I wouldn’t have been able to see where I was going!

  4. Andi has that right. She still forgets to wear them. What about the headaches? Are they better since she has gotten them. Countdown time for you. Is it 14 days before the movers get there?

    Countdown time!!!!

  5. I just wanted to let everyone know that I don’t forget my glass I carry them with me everywhere in my purse. I just choose not to wear them. I wear them when I think I need them.

    Thank you! :)

It’s all about the choices in life, isn’t it?

  6. I am constantly amazed by the ingenuity of mothers. I commend you.

    Thank you!

  7. lol too cute. Did you have her haircut specially at the American Girl place? We have one here..
