My friend was telling a story last night about a visit with her family. The sisters were talking about their life’s ambitions. Now, this friend of mine is a very hard worker and I really think that she has it all together but she felt uncomfortable at the start of this conversation as she has always thought that she was far less ambitious than anyone in her family. But her answer to the question-what is your life’s ambition?-really struck me and I think she is onto something here.
She told her sisters that her life’s ambition is to know and learn to trust God and to love and serve people.
How amazing is that for ambition?

my life’s ambition is to kill ticks – all of them. like in the entire world.

My life ambition is to make you the happiest woman in the world and raise two wonderful Christian kids…other stuff, we will need to talk…not for open public (wink, wink). I love you.—HM/TFD
I love you, too…

I love that ambition. What a great thought provoking post for me. Without putting much thought into it my life ambition would be to do the right thing…………what I am called to do by our Lord.
Thanks for being so awesome.
Thanks Shannon! When my friend said that, it really made me stop and think about what I thought was important!

I love the ambition of surrendering to God’s will – yet, I never thought of it as a “life ambition” – I considered it more of a day to day, minute to minute ambition. . . it can be so challenging to listen and wait and be mindful and loving and . . . and . . .
Today, I was walking through a neighborhood I’ve never been in. My team did a practice race – a 10K in this town called Agora Hills. (Tomorrow we have our regular practice – 13 miles – yay!) … but today it was a 10K w/ chip timing (LOVE chip timing) and (I REALLY am circling back to your question….
….) I walked past these AMAZING houses – palatial, castle-like, beautiful homes. I just can’t figure out how someone earns enough money to live in one of these places. I thought, someone worked a lot of long hours to get here. Someone used all the intelligence that their brains could manage, all the drive, all the focus, all the elbow grease and strategizing to purchase these bricks and this mortar.
THIS,I thought as I looked at these homes, must have been someone’s life dream…. someone’s daily ambition. And while I found it beautiful, I realized, that having that is not my dream. In the end, it’s all just stuff. I’m not trying to vilify the dream of comfort and luxury . . . I just realized that if I have to focus that hard on something, I don’t want it to be as destructible as a material object. Now, if living in a home like that is the byproduct of doing something else worthwhile, then so be it. (Yay!) But it will be the icing on the cake, not the cake.
That said, am I clear on my life’s ambition? Uh. No.
funny you talk about beautiful houses…another woman in the group talked about how she admires the beautiful houses in the Broadmoore area and how her kids will say look at the beautiful mountains…right behind the house…

Our world would be much better if everyone had that for their life’s ambition. What an inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
I thought it was a very cool idea

I don’t know about serving others – I like to help others by walking beside them, lending a hand when they ask – metaphorically speaking.
My life’s ambition is to have no regrets to, have lived a good life and to have changed peoples lives for the better and to continue to learn and experience the wonders of my brief existence until I die.
As for serving others–the way you describe it is the way I try to do it. I think your ambition is a good one!

Well I’m not a god person at all, but I do have a dream, and a life’s ambition.
It involves going to HongKong to learn martial arts and begin my journey to fitness and health.
After I complete that ambition I plan on getting my Bachelor’s degree of technology in Computer Systems and Cognitive Science(computation)…study in these fields for 3 years and get my Master’s Degree of science in Artificial Intelligence
That’s the plan anyways….stupid father doesn’t understand that it’s what I want to do…he keeps asking me to think about my future, but he doesn’t understand that those two things are what I think about when the future comes up in thought.
It’s really all I want.
